Our amazing manta2g has begun to roll out the emails to all our members, asking everyone to verify their email address and reset their password. This is the first phase of unlocking the site, and I'm pretty excited about it!

Update : Partial read-only mode due to yet another attack in the early hours of Oct 10. Had to roll back the database 24 hours, so I apologize for any lost stories.

I will be incrementally unlocking and backing up the site before every unlock to keep any future damage under control. The hacker is specifically targeting Stories (titles, description, and disclaimers.)

I know it's been almost a month, but what can I say with working full time and only able to work on the site afterwork and on my days off.

Going forward, story and author recommendations can have an impact as there are more features on their way for November, including archive highlights of top recommended stories and most currently reading stories. We have the top 50 recommended authors in the member directory and a showcase of our supporters.

If you are logged into the site in the archives' menu to the right of the archive name is a green icon, that will take you to the archive's story manager. It's been cleaned up and made mobile compliant.

We had a serious set of injection attacks on the archives Tuesday, September 13. This affected story titles and disclaimers being turned into site redirects. To maintain security and protection of our users, the archives are in read-only mode till we figure out how it was done and patch it.

If you posted a story or an update on Sept 13th, it has been lost due to data restoration (backup from Sept 13, 1am).

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this, but have deemed the read-only mode necessary for the time being. 

Update :  We are slowly rolling out of Read-Only Mode. Originally we were going to jut patch it, but it was decided it would benefit members more to roll out Fiction Portal 3.0 which as planned for our 20th anniversary in November. Anywhere you see the new layout, it means that area is no longer in read-only mode.

Fiction Portal 3.0 has some much requested features, changes, and some perks for those who have donated to the site.

As you might have seen in an earlier post, we are going to be moving the archive to new server hardware, scheduled at the moment for July 1. Because this is a physical change, there will likely be some unavoidable downtime for the archive. So please, if the archive does become inaccessible, bear with us and we promise, we'll be right back!

We are migrating from PHP 5 to PHP 7, this will increase site security while delivering better performance of the archives and forums.
